Course Contents

This Max/MSP series will be divided into six lessons and roughly 8 – 10 minutes each. It covers the topics from some of the commonly used objects and commands to building simple devices.

This is a short course for beginners and amateurs, so the course will only talk about the basics on several topics in the following format.


Lesson 1 – Setup Max/MSP, and do simple math within the program


Lesson 2 – Create the first oscillator! Change volume and pitches


Lesson 3 – How to record and playback audio


Lesson 4 – Connect Max/MSP with MIDI keyboards and controllers


Lesson 5 – Build a simple delay


Lesson 6 – Build a simple additive synth


Biography

Eric Wong – Composer / performer / guitarist / computer musician. Born 1981 in Minneapolis, grew up in Hong Kong, studied psychology at the University of Minnesota, and subsequently audio production and engineering at the Institute of Production and Recording. As an artist, his main focus lies on sound textures, the perception of sound and spatial experience.

Currently based Berlin, he has performed in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Macau, USA, Taiwan, China, Poland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Norway, Denmark, and France.

In 2016 he co-curated and performed in UNSTUMM HONG KONG, a cross media improvisation performance with musicians and visual artists from Germany and Hong Kong.
