Tsang Sin Yu (Hong Kong)
The Second Coming is a mini series within Sonic Anchor. In Second Coming, we reconnect with artists who we’d already worked with in previous editions of Sonic Anchor, and provide them with a modest level of support with which to create site-specific works that are conceived specifically for the Comix Home Base. Taken outside of the confines and comforts of the performance space, artists respond to the site’s history, its neighbourhood, and the physical structure’s acoustical properties.
Tsang Sin Yu is an experience-maker. She puts a spotlight on the mundane, the tiny and the insignificant, shaping them in such a way that these tiny moments begin to glow and extrude the most intense lyricism. For this edition of Second Coming Yu takes the audience out onto the streets on an interactive walk around the neighbourhood, in which every walker is a performer and an active contributor (for her/himself, and for others). Strangers meet. Strangers are momentarily transformed into makers. Do wear comfortable shoes.
About the artist
Sound artist Tsang Sin Yu graduated from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. Tsang's wide ranging artistic interests fall within the field of sound art and experimental music. Tsang explores moments of beauty and poeticism in routines and apparently insignificant daily occurrences. Her work is about processes of discovery and expression. She constructs situations in which the relationship between physical space and the sonic environment is brought to the fore.
Second Coming系列是聲音下寨項目中的一個特別計畫。在這個系列中,我們再次邀請曾在以往聲音下寨中作展演的藝術家,在適當的支援下創作專為動漫基地此場地而設的藝術表演。藝術家在脫離演出空間的限制及舒適的環境,直接回應場所的歷史、周遭環境及物理結構等音效特質。
曾倩瑜是一個經歷製造者。他將焦點放在平凡、細微及無關痛癢的事物上,重塑這些事物並在過程中令人發現他們的光芒,藉此延伸作最深刻的抒情。在今次的Second Coming系列中,曾倩瑜帶勳觀眾由動漫基地走進灣仔社區,與觀眾共同參與互動, 在過程中每一個參與者同時亦是其中一位表演者,並共同譜出生活日常聲境。人來人往,擦肩而過的陌生人隨時隨地化身為表演者。請穿著舒適的步行鞋。
曾倩瑜畢業於香港城市大學創意媒體學院,以聲音藝術及實驗音樂作為學習中心。創作靈感來自微不足道的日常生活,作品以發現和發洩為中心。透過重塑環境,展示出空間與聲音的關係。

展演評論:夜遊灣仔——曾倩瑜的聲音漫步 (聲音下寨 #30)

加拿大聲音藝術家 Hildegard Westerkamp 於七十年代,提及到 "Music-as-environment" 的概念,她尋求聆聽和製造聲音之間的平衡,城市裡各式各樣的活動構成屬於城市的聲景,聲音不單止在環境之中交錯,更構成我們日常觸角的背景。聲音漫步透過藝術家在特定環境裡,訂下參與者行走的路線,參與者在過程中通過聆聽,形成獨特的經驗,而當晚曾倩瑜的作品 “Sound Sculpture on The Move" 同樣採用類似的模式,不過曾倩瑜的作品除了聆聽外,她提供了一堆現成物給予參加者,讓他們自行選擇參與的方式,然後她運用現成品作演出作總結。曾倩瑜的作品可以說是觸及了 Westerkamp 裡聆聽和製造聲音之平衡的探索,在後資本主義所構成的都市文化裡,聲音通過音響成為特定場合的標誌,聆聽成為日常被動之事,製造聲音被視為製造社會不安的開端。曾倩瑜給予了參與者使用那些現成物來製造事件的權利,然而並沒有明確規定事件的性質,參加者雖有製造聲音,但也因為其開放性,並沒有讓聆聽和製造聲音產生互動,在急速的步伐底下,形成予一個 "status quo" 的狀態,徘徊於經驗構成的邊緣。
