Michael Schiefel (Germany)
Michael Schiefel, a riveting, hugely talented singer on the thriving Berlin post-Wall jazz scene, will make his first appearance on the stage of Sonic Anchor. As the youngest music professor in Germany at his age of 31 in 2001, Michael Schiefel became a professor of vocal jazz at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Weimar. He took part on a wide range of projects like the funk-pop band JazzIndeed, classical-inspired big band with Thaerichen’s Tentett, Balkan-beat German-Bulgarian quintet Batoeu and modern jazz stalwart David Friedman. In this edition of Sonic Anchor, his improvised vocal solo multilayered with loops and electronic effects will achieve extraordinary expressions of passion, joy, and alienation from the songs of Bach to Michael Jackson.
